What is Sustainable Link Building?

By

Google’s goal when it comes to creating their algorithm comes down to what is best for the user.  So essentially with Google if you want to do SEO tactics for the best visibility then do the best thing that look natural and makes sense from your view.

A huge part in the way that Google has created their algorithm is based off of the amount of links pointing to your site.  So for instance if you have a site (xyz.com) and you want links pointing to it there are many ways one can get links built.  Below is a graph that breaks down the many ways one can obtain a link:

When you have a site launched be sure to:

  • Add Google Analytics
  • Add Google Webmaster Tools
  • Incorporate Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, etc.)
  • Add a blog

Social Media Leveraging

When you are blogging be sure to share your blog posts across the social media platforms you have established.  I’ve read across the board that if you have planned it accordingly you can gain a very large audience in a very short amount of time by doing guest blog posts.

Leverage Blogs

I would start out adding thoughtful comments on blogs that pertain to your industry first and start getting a conversation with people already in the industry first through blog comments, twitter and so fourth.  Then reach out to them with a proposed guest blog post.

Link Diversification

When is comes to link building you want to make sure it is diversified.  Not only on the type of link such as blog comments, directories, social media and so forth but also in terms of the anchor text of the link.  Google’s newest algorithm change has cracked down on poor linking strategies that are clearly “unnatural” but also exact match anchor text.

Don’t Bite The Hand That Feeds You

Google, just like users, don’t like to be gamed and they will continue to be making these changes every day to clean up all the “mess” on the internet.  Be clean in your link building tactics, even if it does take you longer, it will pay off in the end.
